Quick Stop in Atlanta

On our way back from Helen, I wanted to stop in Atlanta.  Atlanta is about 4 hours from Savannah, so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to make a quick stop.  Plus, it helped break up the drive for me.

Welcome to Atlanta!

I love the skyline

We went to visit the World of Coca Cola

Brett loves anything mentioned about Spain

The vault with the secrets of the formula

The best part is the tasting center

I don't really drink soda, but I do love cherry coke.
I had to have a sip!

Apparently, if you can find these three original paintings, Coca Cola will buy them from you.
Brett has made it a mission to find these so we can retire early.

We had a nice lunch after the museum and then went on our way back to Savannah.  Like I said, it was a nice little break! :)

Helen, GA

Brett really loves fall, so now that we are on the East Coast, his dreams about seeing the colors of the leaves change will come true.  We really wanted to go to New York and meet up with Jordan and Becca, but with the chaos of the move and Brett's new job, we couldn't make it happen.  Bummer! So, to ease his pain, Brett decided that we would go to the "mountains" (what mountains?) and see some leaves change at a little German town called Helen.

They have a huge Oktoberfest every year.

Glad we snapped this picture because the place was a zoo the next night

On Saturday, we had a lovely brunch at the The Meeting Place in Helen and then went on a hike in Unicoi State Park around the Loop Lake Trail.  It was about 2 miles and I survived.  Usually I feel great after a hike, but being pregnant and in your third trimester is a totally different story.  It was great to get some fresh air and see some nature. As we walked, Brett realized that the trees were just not going to be like the north east, but he was still happy.

Our cute little cabin which was called "The Victorian Secret"

On Sunday morning as we were leaving Helen, we decided to take some pictures of the cute town.  Luckily, everyone was wiped out from Oktoberfest, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Little Discoveries

A couple of weeks ago, I went to down town Savannah to see my new hospital.  I had to take a three hour glucose test which was no fun for me.  On the plus side, I went to the perinatal unit and had a ultrasound.  It was nice to see my little guy again.  Brett was with me and so after the hospital, we ate lunch and went on a little adventure in Savannah.
The beautiful oak trees with the Spanish Moss.
Isn't it charming?

Two Smart Cookies
We had a cookie from here at family day and really liked this place, so we found it.

So cute!

Here he is at 28 weeks!
Look at those lips!

The next day, Brett and I went to Bluffton, South Carolina which is about a half hour away from Savannah. We had to hit up The Cottage, which has become one of our favorite restaurants here in the South.  The Apple Pecan French Toast is their signature breakfast dish.  I have had a lot of French Toast and this has definitely been my favorite!

(I had a picture of the French Toast, but it won't load. Sad!)

We plan to bring anyone who visits us to this cute place, so be prepared!

Gulfstream Family Day

On Oct. 12th, Gulfstream, had their annual family day.  Family day is a big deal because it's the one time you can come to see and tour how these private G650's are made.  They also provide unlimited food, drinks, and games.  It's seriously the neatest things I have ever seen a company do for their employees and families.

Brett and I went when they opened at 10 and immediately went on the tour.  I couldn't take any pictures, but I was seriously impressed with what I saw.  I'm glad these people who create and build planes are smart because everything is so precise, technical, and just amazing.

We enjoyed some southern barbecue after the tour and then enjoyed walking around and seeing all the popcorn, pretzels, sugar cookies, cupcakes, and every other dessert you could think of.  This family day was such a nice welcome for us West Coast people! :)

The Big Move and Closing Day!

On Oct. 3rd, the big move across the country happened.  Brett came back to California and then the next day, we turned around and flew to Savannah, Georgia with the two cats.  I won't go into details, but flying with my two cats was quite an experience.  I'll admit that I broke into tears once because I couldn't get them to be quiet with the sedative I was given for them, but they eventually did quiet down and passed out.  I was fully prepared for this to happen, but you just don't know until you experience it. I felt so bad because they cried and were so scared!  When we arrived, we went straight to the hotel which ended up being another crazy experience with the cats going crazy.  They eventually passed out again, but then would wake up crying.  Poor little guys, the whole experience was traumatic for them.

(quite exhausted)

The next morning, we quickly checked out, dropped the cats off at our new home, and then drove to downtown Savannah to close on the house.

Can you see the two sets of ears?
We came back and they were hiding up on the highest ledge.

I really love our new house. I think it's absolutely beautiful and wonderful.  It's so nice to upgrade and pay less compared to our condo we owned in Southern California.  I feel very blessed in my life!

We closed and 26 weeks pregnant
