August 11- Day 6 Athens, Greece

After being at sea for two days, the Ruby Princess made her way to the first stop, Athens.  Both Brett and I thought that Athens was filled with ruins and beautiful scenery (like in Hercules).  Clearly, I was wrong and too caught up in a Disney movie because Athens looked worse than East L.A.  There was graffiti, porn shops, and gum on the streets everywhere.   We were really sad to see this, but we decided this would not stop us and we went looking for the important ruins.  Our bus dropped us off at the Plaka where we went to the Acropolis Museum.  After being informed by the museum, we hiked up the Acropolis to see the Parthenon.  The Parthenon was really cool even if they were doing some refurbishing touches on it.  After the Parthenon we walked to Fleet Market to eat a delicious gyro.  OH MY, this was to DIE for and clearly very similar to the doner kabab in Spain.  After eating that delicious meal, we saw the Temple of Zeus and also visited the Old Olympic Stadium. We had a great time, but both Brett and I agree that this was probably our least favorite place.

I"m only posting this because Brett likes to make fun of me for this!
